Also known as Kembang Pita or Rope-Flower, Strophanthus Dichotomus is native to Asia and Africa. Though poisonous to humans, the flower was admired for its long red tendrils. It was sometimes worn as corsages. This image was originally published in Belgium in the year 1863 by Berthe van Nooten, as one of a series of forty Southeast Asian botanical lithographs depicting fruits and flowers.
