Mount Guntur is an active stratovolcano in western Java. Guntur, which means "thunder" in Indonesian, last erupted in the year 1847. It is part of a complex of several overlapping stratovolcanoes about 10 km northwest of the city of Garut, close to Bandung. The Kamojang crater, a geothermal power field and a tourist site, is located on the slopes of Mount Guntur.

Originally published around the year 1852 by Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn (1809-1864), a German doctor, naturalist, explorer and French Foreign Legion surgeon who spent many years in Java.
