Early map of the English settlement of Sydney Town. One of the earliest depictions of the new English settlement in the year 1807, engraved after the original work by the famous Nicolas Baudin expedition artist Charles-Alexandre Lesueur. Having participated in two scientific expeditions during the 1790s, Baudin was commissioned by Napoleon in 1800 to survey the Australian coast.
