Fly to Java ~ Travel Poster ~ Year 1938
From the year it was founded in 1928 the Koninklijke Nederlands-Indische Luchtvaart Maatschappij (K.N.I.L.M.) (Royal Dutch Indies Airways) offered air travel within what was then the Dutch-East Indies, first between Batavia (now Jakarta) and Bandung. This poster with the text ‘Fly to Java’ stems from the year 1938. An aeroplane speeds through the golden yellow sky above the ancient Buddhist temple of Borobudur with two tranquil figures in traditional garb.
